In the same New Mexico landscape area which inspired Georgia O'Keefe is the Christ in the Desert Benedictine Monastery. Accessible by 13 miles of dirt road - which you don't want to try on a rainy day - this monastery is tucked away amongst red cliffs near the Chama River. It is quiet and peaceful.
