Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Chile Ristras are iconic New Mexico sights in early fall, and are readily available at local farmer markets. Usually ristras are made from just red chiles, but these ristras were a mixture of green, yellow, orange and red chiles. And yes, they are used locally for cooking throughout the year.
