I was out for a walk one March morning in the high mountain deserts of New Mexico, when I saw this single mountain bluebird hopping along the ground. He eventually flew away. I felt like I had a hiking companion for a bit! We were on a mesa top overlooking the Placitas area and the town of Bernalillo, north of Albuquerque. I love the way the blue of the bird is every bit as blue as the sky.
